Manufacturing in the Great Lakes Region is all about Innovation -- innovation in the products and materials that are being developed and created and in the way that they are manufactured. We want to accelerate the capacity of Great Lakes manufacturers to lead product and process innovation in their markets.

The goal of the Innovation Work Group is to bring together and strengthen innovation in the Great Lakes Manufacturing community. Strategies include:

Viewing adversity as innovation opportunity
Looking across industries to innovate
Aiming to be cutting-edge – search for adopt disruptive / new technologies
Promoting greater user-based innovation
Improving existing and create new systems for university/government/business collaboration
Fostering greater university support of small and medium-sized companies.

The Great Lakes Region is the third largest economy in the world. It has a cutting-edge culture and is an epicenter for next-generation innovation. We are a world-class economic powerhouse and the potential to innovate has been barely tapped.
